I've been seeing all sorts of articles like this one that warning of malware targeting the Chromium/Chrome/Edge/Brave/... password database

and suggesting people switch to a third party password manager like LastPass

So my question is, is there anything about LastPass and other password managers that make them actually harder to break into than the Chrome password database?

Or is it simply that there are probably 1000x more Chrome installations than LastPass installations so hackers would ignore LastPass
