What is the proper way to delete a reddit account currently?

I realize that in the past there were tools and browser extensions that modified / deleted comment and post history. I also understand this isn't a perfect solution, but as far as I can tell is as good as can be done retrospectively.

There are lots of posts on this topic, but not much I can find after the reddit 3rd party support conundrum. Are there are tools that still work, and are there any recommendations?
