For those of you who use OpenVAS, what exactly is your "setup"?

I've been using openvas for the past 2 years in just up-to-date kali docker containers. However, it's been quite the journey as parts of the openvas installation fail randomly and requires a massive amount of troubleshooting. It's been an extremely valuable tool, but I'm debating on some alternative options now.
