I'm leaving my developer job soon, and I want to apply for a SOC Analyst position. I have been a developer for 3+ years and no infosec cert but I'm planning to get one this year.

So far I've been doing research on what a SOC Analyst does alongside my CySA+ study. Here's my study plan until February:

  • Network basics (OSI, TCP/IP, subnetting?), 3 days

  • Network hands-on (Wireshark), 1 week

  • SIEM (Snort or Splunk free), 1 week

  • Linux command line/Bash, …
