Companies requiring suites for interviews?

While applying for my first role in the field i've run into some interviews that require me to wear a suit or nice shirt with a tie for a zoom interview. While I have no problem with this concept, it always strikes me a little odd considering that my perception of working in tech is possibly a nice shirt as all my coworkers at my internship wear t shirts and flannels.
