I tested this on two separate PCs with two different SSDs. The "wipe free space" feature is completely useless on SSDs. The Recuva tool from Piriform (CCleaner) can still easily fully recover all files it could before the wiping.

I tested on external HDDs, and it is not the case with them.

It seems like SSD storage is considerably different than HDD, and both of these programs have wasted years not notifying users that doing free space wiping on SSD …
