x.com ads (Twitter) hacked by malware -- Is anyone else seeing this?

I handled the problem, once I understood it, by shutting down the ad. But how this happened remains a mystery. Maybe someone here can explain the exploit. Or maybe others who have experienced it will see this and we can collectively start to build a sense of how big a problem this may be. The item below -- a tweet -- recounts the story.
