Any ideas on the recent uptick in state sponsored Chinese attacks on Russia?

My guess is that Russia is in such a state that they aren't going to do anything to alienate/disrespect by way of a call out, their biggest "ally". I see China being very optimistic here. Strategically, it's brilliant with low to no risk.
Thoughts?
