I came across a recent article in the NYT that was titled something along the lines of “The technology big tech did not dare release”. The article mentions how google and Facebook have had the technology to find every photo of an individual online using reverse facial recognition search since 2011, but they did not release it due to the obvious potential dangers and privacy concerns.
