Why not run a vm with the privacy infringing apps in your phone?

So there's this group of people that actually degoogle all their phones and shit, custom distros etc. Why not run a small vm with an app? Same thing you'd do to play a android game in your pc but in your phone

You can just turn the vm off whenever you aren't using those services and they won't have access to your microphone/camera/whatever right?

Why don't people do that? Is there like a flaw or something I'm overlooking? Or is …
