So I'm working on what will become my PhD project, but I'd like some input to help shape my thinking (no, this isn't my only source of information, obviously). It's a simple question, but I think an important one:

Why do you, personally, care about privacy? Why is it, at gut level, important to you?

Is it important because it facilitates other things you value? Is it important in itself? Why do you care about it?
