I have wondered this for some time now. I pay several services like deleteme to automate opting me out of people finder sites. I am not in the EU and not in California.

So why do they even let me opt out? Is there some regulation I am not aware of that applies nationwide? Is it because any single consumer isn't worth the hassle?
