Why do cybersec pros diss on certs?

When I began my journey into cybersecurity, the very first certification I obtained was the CEH. I attended classes, completed labs, and studied for the exam. However, the pros around me were saying how worthless it was. After conducting my own research, I admit that with brain dumps and other shortcuts, maybe it is indeed not that valuable.
