When you Rent in the US, does the Lanlord submit your name/address to any other parties or is it relatively private?

I haven't rented in a while, but from my memory I had to provide photo ID along with my deposit. They draft up a rental agreement with your name on it and you sign it.
Does anything else happen with my name?
For example does the landlord by default submit the relationship between my name and the fact I am renting the apartment to any third party like the government?
