WhatsApp as a Business Comms Channel

I'm having a little drama at work with a senior member of management who believes that it is totally OK to use WhatsApp as a corporate communication channel for alerts around operational and safety issues that occur. We are a M365 shop, Teams is used everyday all day, but for some reason "Alerts" need to go out over a consumer-grade channel owned by Facebook.
