What's your work life balance like?

I have been going to school for computer science to hopefully become a software engineer mainly because you can get really good pay and good work life balance. Buutttttt... I recently just got hired as an IT support in a really good company known for really pushing their employees for internal promotions (after 6-10 months) and one of then is an Information Security Analysis.
