What operating system to run Signal, Session, or Element.io private messengers on?

I haven't had any luck getting any of these programs to work in the Tails operating system, but it might be a bad idea anyways as these programs use tor connections (I think) and Tails uses Tor, so it's Tor on top of Tor, which is not a good idea from what I've read.
