What if I DON’T want to work for the DoD?

I currently work as a data analyst (entry level) for a contractor for the DoD. I have a secret clearance and am looking to transition into a cyber security career path. While my pay is fine and growth opportunities are there, the work is just not what I want to do. I simply do not want to work for the DoD or government and I would much prefer helping people in a security setting than plugging numbers for the military. …
