What do you want your new, never-before-in-cyber IT Security VP to know?

Moving from senior management (not C suite) in IT operations to senior management (not C suite) working for our CISO in a role that has about 1/3 technical and policy aspects he is responsible for. For those who have seen someone come into their first real cyber management role, what are the things they did that made things worse? What do you wish you could have told them?
