What do y’all think of Apple Passkeys?

Something about passkeys scares me in that it is verified through my biometric Face ID but there is nothing for me to secure like a password.

What happens if the verification fails? Do I use a password then as a backup if the passkey fails? It just feels like I’m trusting apple a lot to verify for me. But maybe I just don’t understand this technology well enough yet?
