What data can I pull from Echo Dot & how long before it’s overwritten by new data?

Context: my best friend died recently and I just realized that there are a few echo dots at his house. When I told his family that it may be possible to pull audio from the echo dots, so as to provide some insight into what was happening before he died, they were very interested.
