What are your opinions on Facebook/Meta financing research in privacy/security in XR and smart devices?

I was curious to get opinions on Facebook/Meta financing research about privacy & security in the field of AR/VR/Smart devices. This is especially intriguing in the current context of the Metaverse & Meta owning Oculus.
