What are the risks of using bitly shortened URLs?

The company I work for wants to start using a bitly shortened URL for our domain (which is really only shortening our domain by 5 characters)…based on a little bit of reading I’ve done and as the Infosec person for our company, I’m not inclined to want to accept the risk.
