As the news of Google's Web Integrity API proposals ripples across the internet, people (rightly) pore over the implications. Some (rightly, given Google's ethical record) assume the worst motives; others explore the technical nitty-gritty.

But I think we should focus on the rationale as outlined by Google themselves. Particularly these:
