One of my family members recently had their debit card information stolen. My guess....maybe from online transactions and what not. She caught the issue in time since her bank sent her an alert to verify whether or not it was legit purchases.

I remember hearing of virtual debit card services where you create a burner card for online transactions. Would that kind of service provide protection when doing online purchases?
