Unnaturally large size of 'stored data' for a website.

Is it unnatural for a website to store 200+MB of cookies data(under cookies and site data)? If yes, then what might the consequences be? I've already cleared it, but upon refreshing the site multiple times, the size of the stored data keeps on adding up to 200-300MB very quickly.
