Thoughts on Session?

I thought from what I've read that an app like Session would be a superior option over something like Signal. No phone number needed, onion routing, no metadata collected, etc.

But I've seen here more posts/recommendations for apps like Signal but not many for Session.

So I was wondering what you guys think.
