Thoughts on Rob Braxman running his own email service?

I remember watching Braxman's videos on how email is unsafe. He talked about how metadata can't easily be encrypted, and how he noticed the flaws in email when he ran his own service. Now he's advertising his own braxmail service, to "keep your email content away from big tech!" for $50 US a year.
It could be argued that he is simply offering an alternative to services like protonmail, tutanota, startmail etc. On the flip side, it could be seen …
