I'm having a tough time finding more information on the subject. Microsoft recommends using TPM + PIN to stave off attacks where the hacker has physical access to the machine.

The problem is, from what I've read, Microsoft won't let you use a boot PIN because the magnetic keyboard isn't recognized at startup and they only did an on-screen keyboard with the surface pro 3.
