Super uncomfortable with the ring, but my FIL insists we install it in our house. How to install incorrectly so it doesn't work? Any other solutions/advice?

Hey! I've read a lot about data selling/collection that goes on with the ring doorbell, and it makes me really uncomfortable to use. I'm in general just really opposed to mass surveillance (I watched the Truman Show when I was a kid and that started it lol), the hubby is really uncomfortable with it, and so are his siblings.
