So this has been nagging me for a long time:

why is it safer to let an online cloud based app like [mint.com](https://mint.com) to store your bank credentials on their servers compared with it storing these credentials on customers' individual phones (for example) and then whenever the app needs to access data, it calls up the local app to get the credentials to access a user's bank account. It can even store the user's bank info (such as amount, etc.) …
