Sterling background check - Help Needed!!!

I am a volunteer for a large university. In my role, there is a possibility that I would deal with vunerable populations (ie- children), so a criminal background check is required. A few years ago, the university retained Sterling to perform these checks. I read the disclosures and privacy agreements and (no suprise) was horrified which led me to challenging this process.
