Should I just have all of my verification #'s as google voice numbers?

What if I lose my mobile phone, how do I get txts? I understand there are some apps out there where I can receive or send text via browser but its unreliable. What's wrong with just using my mobile's new google voice number as verifications? I can just have any verif codes forwarded as an email to another email if incase I lose my mobile phone?
