Should an AP be on its own VLAN?

I am a noob doing the Secruity+
I thought: It reduces the attack surface if one of your VLANS are compromised. Because if your access point is on the same VLAN as the compromise VLAN, they now have access to your access point.
But that idea got -9 down votes; what did I get wrong?
