Safest way for storing 200gb of pic and video in external device

I want to have an external SSD with 200/300 pic and video but I want those to be super protected. I would like more layer of protection. Right now I'm using .rar with password but does not seems best way. I saw also apposite device with embedded password to access the SDD. What's the best way?
