Safe way to send PCI?

Im a security intern for a large company, going to keep out specifics for obvious reasons. My main function is data loss prevention, this company employs thousands of people, some of which are not very tech savvy. They’ll send invoice payments with full credit card details over unencrypted emails, and i have to wait 48 hours to delete the emails to allow them to access the information that they need.
