I've been seeing a lot of smishing attempts. I'm kind of up a creek with how far I can dig into them. CNAM lookups of the source numbers are of limited value. It did confirm that they're abusing VoIP providers. Months ago I did manage to swim upstream a little further and found the application-to-person (A2P?) provider used.
