Between Photoshop, dark web info from credit agency breaches and improving AI photo generation, remote photo-based verification of government ids is probably broken by synthetic ids now (have experienced this attack myself as a target of real estate title fraud).


This especially impacts KYC for investment and banking but also rental agencies like AirBNB. Elections are probably less impacted, though, since the system is designed to detect duplicate votes/registrations by comparing against a centralized database.
