Public wifi installing some certificate? Safety measure in using public wifi?

So when I paired my office wifi on my iphone, it wanted to install some certificates. I do not know what they are and what they are capable of doing. Any idea on these things?


Second, any recommendations for using public wifi like walmart etc to keep myself safe if I access my email or maybe even bank?
