Opinions on FDE - Full Disk Encryption

Hello guys,

I'm moving overseas and I'm taking my 2 tb HDD with me. I don't want immigration messing around my files so I'd like to encrypt it and after I buy another computer on my new country I want to be able to decrypt it and use it again normally.

The problem is that I've never done FDE before. I'd like your opinions and experiences on it as well as your favorite programs to do it.
