NVMe imaging woes

I have a 500GB PCIe Gen3 x4 M.2 NVME SSD I am trying to image. Using the Tablea TDA7-2 adapter, the TX1 did not recognize the source SSD. I tried reconnecting and power cycling and no luck. I installed the target SSD in an external USB enclosure and the TX1 still failed to recognize the source drive when connected to the USB input. Weird.
