Doubt there's anything malicious and it's unlikely Nord can decrypt anything, but it's still a huge gaping hole for an attacker. I don't think the average person knows what a root certificate is, and it's a breach of trust with Nord claiming their threat protection feature "taking cybersecurity to the next level". Other products might do the same, but it's not on every single request like this.
