Nope, not really. Companies behind these apps still gather your data just like the carriers gathering your RCS/SMS messages. Unless one was to change over to something like Signal, then people only do it because of convenience such as WhatsApp, Telegram, FB messenger and other things. My real question are people concerned about the absence of end to end encryption on these certain platforms?
