NIST unveils four algorithms that will underpin new 'quantum-proof' cryptography standards

Experts believe quantum computers capable of breaking classic public-key encryption are still years away from reality. For the federal government, however, the future is now and NIST is working to quickly enshrine the new algorithms into U.S. cryptography standards and clear the way for federal adoption.
