Need New Email Provider - Hosted Exchange vs. Outlook.com vs. Alternatives?

TL;DR: I am looking for a new email provider for personal use and am willing to sacrifice some privacy that services like ProtonMail provide for increased usability/convenience. However, I don't want to use a service like Google that will scan my inbox and build a personality profile for ad targeting purposes. Any recommendations?
