Need advice and help with the request to remove personal data from news portal

I apologize if I'm in the wrong section.

So... In 2012, my friend was arrested in the US with gun and some marijuana. Local news portal has published the article about that, with his picture and full name. Here in USA they probably have the right to do it because it's about 'crime reporting', etc.
