Micro segmentation thoughts

I've been learning a lot about micro segmentation lately and I keep coming back to wondering how changes in the Production environment are effected by micro segmentation. How does micro segmentation work with Change Management? We have a Change Management procedure in place where all changes made to Production environments must first be reviewed and approved by the Change Management review board.
