LineageOS is probably the most popular custom firmware for Android phones, and it is probably the most private and secure custom firmware for those who don't have a Google Pixel.

There are currently 5.8M phones using the Lineage OS right now (2022-06-28) per their official statistics, an 50% rise from few weeks ago when I checked the official statistics page (it was around 4M last month) .
