Privacy & Freedom in the Information Age www.reddit.com

I've been pondering the idea of switching to a privacy-friendly email service, but the majority of my contacts use Gmail. So when I send an email from my privacy-friendly email provider it will be ultimately read by the receiver provider. I'm curious to hear your thoughts on whether making the switch would actually provide any significant advantages. Has anyone else faced this dilemma? What are your experiences and recommendations?
