Is SOC useless as path to pentesting?

I’m a professional photographer/retoucher who decided to step into cybersecurity.
I have just passed my comptia network+ exam and I’m currently doing google cybersecurity specialist on coursera on my way to security+.
I currently think that pentesting is my go to job, but after doing research i decided to try to find my first job as SOC analyst, get experience, learn further and transition into pentesting/red teaming.
Is it a good way? Or will I be …
